We live in Tŷ Newyddion, a recently restored building in the heart of the town. Originally a music shop with guest rooms above it then became a newsagents and was famous regionally for the wide range of magazines it stocked.

Located on the ground floor of Tŷ Newyddion, Arloesi Dolgellau’s mission is to foster innovation, creativity, and collaboration within our community. Through our focus on knowledge-sharing, hands-on making, and entrepreneurial ventures, we aim to empower individuals to transform ideas into impactful actions. By providing accessible spaces, resources, and opportunities, we nurture local talent, promote sustainable solutions, and celebrate the rich cultural and technological potential of Dolgellau and its surrounding areas. Together, we are building a resilient, forward-thinking community that values learning, making, and meaningful connections.

Our space offers a range of opportunities with a particular focus on teaching 3D design and printing skills.
Our Sew Something Simple classes are a great way to get intolearning how to use a sewing machine and many other skills. Repair or alter your clothing or design a unique decoration and embroider it with our computer controlled embroidery machine. For larger pieces we have an overlocker. All our sewing activities turn into very sociable events.

Our repair cafe is now developing to handle electronics repairs so please check the events list and see if we can help you.
Our Code Club has just started. Initially it is supporting school pupils to learn Python but we hope to broaden the scope to all ages and other programming languages.

Our back garden will be ready to use in late April and we are filling it with sensors. The “Intelligent Garden” will connect into the towns LoRaWAN network and will offer hands on opportunities to develop sensor technologies as well as collecting and processing data.
