We’ve just planned the first community event of our Oakwood Project. We’re still deciding what we’ll call the project, our favourites are Rhodd y Goedwig and Coed Creadigol. We’d be glad to have your feedback on what you’d choose. This project aims to tie together the innovative use of traditional materials gathered in the wonderful woods here and the creativity and imagination of our community.
A brief overview and key info:
Date: Sunday 26th October
Meeting point: Arloesi Dolgellau, Bridge Street, Dolgellau LL40 1AS
Timings: 10am – 1pm approx
Distance: 3.5km
Accessibility: Need to be able to walk up hill and over rough or muddy ground in woodland
Facilities: Public toilets at the Mawddach carpark
Bring: Warm and waterproof clothes. Walking boots. Food and drink.
Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leads.
We’ll explore the beautiful RSPB Coed y Parc Nature Reserve, and in doing so, explore what we notice both in our physical surroundings as well as what feelings or words come to us, do we have memories of this place or others like it? We would also like to collect materials to use to make ink and paper – more on this nearer the time!
Following the walk, everyone is invited for a hot drink at Arloesi Dolgellau and we’ll look at any photos you’ve taken or notes or drawings you’ve made and hopefully plan another walk in the wonderful woodlands here in the Mawddach Estuary.
