VERTICAL FARM
Don’t know what a vertical farm is? Vertical farming uses vertical stacked layers (imagine a big stack of shelves) to grow food. The environment (temperature, light, water, humidity) is controlled artificially—which means we aren’t dependent on the Welsh weather. Typically, crops grown in vertical farms are leafy greens (eg. lettuces and leaf spinach) and herbs . . . but there’s always opportunity to experiment. A number of Dolgellau residents are looking to coordinate a growing project which could see this “Farm on the High Street” supplying local cafes and restaurants with some of their produce.
If you are interested in finding out more about the vertical farm project, or in getting involved, please get in touch.
